Q. When does UND Aerospace hire instructors for their satellite campuses?

UND Aerospace hires instructors for the satellite campuses year round on an as needed basis.

Q. If I apply for a job at Duluth, will I also be a candidate for hiring at the other sites?

Yes, as long as you select all the sites to which you want your application sent.

Q. If I am selected for the interview what will happen?

First you will be contacted by UND Aerospace personnel. The interview times and dates will be set based on this conversation.

Q. What can I expect at the interview?

First you will take a written test. The information that is covered on this test is a lot like the written tests taken for your initial CFI certification. The test is not a carbon copy of the FAA test questions though.
Technical and HR interview. The HR part of the interview is to get to know the applicant. The technical side of the interview is changed on a regular basis. If you prepared well for the written test, you should do well on this part.

Note: During the technical part of the interview you are expected to teach the information.

If hired -
Instrument Proficiency Check (In simulator). You will not be expected to teach on this simulator check, but you must fly to instrument standards.

Standardization Flight - This will be conducted in an airplane. This is a pass/fail check in which your flying and teaching skills are tested in the airplane. It is a lot like your initial CFI checkride.

Q. How long will UND Aerospace hold onto my application?

UND Aerospace will keep all applications on file for 6 months. After 6 months you must reapply. The reapplication process is the same as the initial application process.

Q. What is the pay scale at UND Aerospace Satellite Campuses?

This pay scale is for Phoenix, Hawaii, Crookston, Spokane, and Williston
Level Rate(Hourly) Requirement(s)
1 $9.36 Part Time + $2HI
2 $12.65 Full Time CFI + $2HI
3 $15.40 Holds CFII, Assigned Instrument Student + $2HI
4 $17.16 Holds MEI, Assigned Multi Student + $2HI
5 $20.80 Teaches Initial CFI Applicants
Note: For Hawaii add $2 to all rates

Q. What is the pay scale for Cirrus Design Instructors in Duluth, MN?

Full Time Salary
- $1000 Base Pay Monthly
- $150 a Day (more than 4 hours of work)
- $75 a day (less than 4 hours of work)
- $50 a day if you are traveling to train a customer
- $150 if you are ferrying a customers aircraft

Full time flight Instructor
- $180 a day(more than 4 hours of work)
- $90 a day(less than 4 hours of work)
- $90 a day if you are travelling to train a customer

Contract
- $200 a day
- Contract training is instructors who work on an as needed basis, they are not considered full-time employees
